The Philippines flag a horizontal design with equal bands of royal blue on the top and scarlet red on the bottom. It features a white, equilateral triangle on the left side. Inside the triangle, there is a golden-yellow sun with eight rays, representing different provinces. Each vertex of the triangle holds a five-pointed, golden-yellow star, symbolizing the country’s three main island groups – Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The white triangle signifies liberty, equality, and fraternity. Interestingly, if the flag is displayed upside-down with the red side on top, it indicates a state of war.
