The Sao Tome & Principe flag consists of horizontal stripes: the top stripe is green, the middle stripe is yellow, and the bottom stripe is green. In the upper hoist side of the flag, there is a red triangle facing the fly side, with two black five-pointed stars in the middle of the yellow stripe. The flag represents the lush greenery and natural resources of the country, as well as the struggle for independence and unity. The red triangle symbolizes equality and freedom, while the black stars represent the two main islands of Sao Tome and Principe.
