Sri Lanka Flag is an improvisation of the civil standard of the last king of Sri Lanka, Sri Wickrama Rajasingha.
The Sri Lanka flag consists of a yellow background with two vertical stripes—a green stripe on the hoist side and an orange stripe on the fly side. Located on the right side of the yellow field is a maroon rectangle containing a yellow lion holding a sword. The lion symbolizes courage, while the yellow background represents prosperity. The green stripe signifies the country’s Islamic population, the orange represents the Hindu community, and the maroon reflects the Tamil ethnicity.
